Comic Book Haul – 13 March 2013

After a week without this ‘series’, the Weekly Comic Book Haul post returns with five issues featured.

So, whilst last week was a little dull on the new releases front, with only Age of Ultron #1 coming out that I was able to pick up (I wanted to get loads more, but didn’t have the money for them and wasn’t following the respective series), so I didn’t feel like putting out a Comic Book Haul post for last Wednesday. And then the weekend hit, and Comixology & Marvel launched a massive digital campaign where most of Marvel’s first issues could be found for free, which promptly crashed the website due to the traffic. However, I ended up using the app (which still had a few problems but at least I could access it) to download around about 50 first issues from the very first Uncanny X-Men to Savage Wolverine #1. Obviously, due to the sheer amount of issues that I downloaded, I’m not going to be able to feature them here, so this Haul will remain for print comics.

But enough about that, let’s showcase the comics that I picked up from the store today. They are as follows: Batman #18 by Scott Snyder, Wolverine #1 by Paul Cornell, Age of Ultron #2 by Brian Michael Bendis, Fearless Defenders #2 by Cullen Bunn & Secret Avengers #2 by Nick Spencer. I would have picked up Uncanny X-Men #3 by BMB as well, but didn’t have enough cash left over so had to reserve a copy for Friday. The picture’s below, and I apologise for the pathetic photo-taking skills as I had to hold my Kindle Fire upside down in order to take them.

Paul Cornell, Scott Snyder, Brian Michael Bendis et al, this Wednesday is going to be a pretty awesome Wednesday. And tomorrow, we have some news about the future of Scott Snyder’s Batman run that you may or may not have heard about.

    • I agree on the Fearless Defenders, and the Young Avengers #1 that I had the chance to read recently as a digital copy was pretty strong as well, but haven’t got around to reading #2 yet. My favourite Marvel NOW! Title would probably be All New X-Men even if I have only read the first three issues of it and am falling behind.

      • I’m not surprised that you’re enjoying All New X – Men, because it’s written by the one and only Brian Michael Bendis. Maybe I’ll give it a look. Thank you for your reply! : )
